how it works

We estimate the number of animals needed

We are not a feed lot! Every 2-4
weeks we move the appropriate
number of animals into rotation.

Each harvest may be different from the
last and this means we may not always
have a perfect supply of each cut you
are looking for.

We produce nutrient-dense, nose to tail cuts

Next we move our animals to a USDA
certified processing facility to make our
custom nose to tail cuts and mixes.

This not only leads to less waste, but
greater nutrition! You get more vitamins
and bioavailable minerals while helping
the environment!

We custom pack & deliver to your door

We put together each box by hand to
your specifications and insulate it well
for its journey.

Finally, it gets to you fresh & frosty
(probably not in a tractor), ready for you to enjoy. Just get it into the freezer
ASAP!

our meat

All of our meat is all natural, no added hormones, never fed antibiotics, non-GMO, and raised using holistic management techniques. Our beef, buffalo, and lamb are 100% grass-fed grass-finished and regeneratively raised. Our pork and chicken are solely pasture raised and fed a low PUFA, organic, corn-free, soy-free diet. We give our pigs extra raw skim milk and fruit for a healthier diet and low PUFA content. We will conduct testing soon on the PUFA content of our meat. Stay tuned!

BEEF

Our beef is 100% grass-fed and grass-finished but we prefer the term "wild-crafted" because of the seasonality and diversity in our animals' diets. All of our beef is completely free of antibiotics, hormones, and pesticides. We use holistic management practices to ensure that our cattle are happy, healthy, and giving back to the soil. These practices result in wonderful tasting, nutrient dense beef.

LAMB

We source our lamb from the native rangeland of West Texas where they spend their entire life on pasture – 100% grass-fed and never fed grains. Grass-fed lamb is absolutely delicious and super high in protein. Our lamb is completely free of antibiotics, hormones, and pesticides. They are also raised regeneratively using holistic management practices. It's very hard to find lamb of this quality without having to import from New Zealand.

CHICKEN

Our pasture-raised chickens move to fresh grass every day, enjoying sunlight on pesticide-free pastures. We don't use any hormones or antibiotics. In addition to pasture raising, we use a non-gmo, corn-free, soy-free, organic feed. Our chickens consume a diet that is low in polyunsaturated fat, also known as PUFA. A low PUFA diet improves the taste and quality of our meat as well as the health of the animals. Conventional chickens are fed a diet that is filled with corn and soy, both of which are high in PUFA. The excessive amount of PUFA in the diet of conventional chickens lowers the quality of the meat and worsens the health of the animal.

PORK

Our pork goes beyond organic and pasture-raised. Our pigs eat what nature provides, grass, critters, as well as fruit and raw skim milk from local producers. As we move our pigs from pasture to pasture, they impact the land just enough so that there is lushes regrowth and fertile soil. Since we can control the diet of our pigs, we ensure that it's low in polyunsaturated fats, also known as PUFA. Low PUFA fed pigs are as healthy as possible and their high quality diet translates to a delicious meat. Conventionally raised pigs are fed a diet that is filled with corn and soy which are high in PUFA. The excessive amount of PUFA in the diet of conventional pigs leads to poorer tasting meat and less healthy pigs.

BISON

Our North American Bison are 100% grass-fed and grass-finished. Compared to beef, bison is leaner and has a more pronounced flavor. All of our bison meat is completely free of pesticides, antibiotics, and hormones. Bison have been shaping the landscape of North America for millions of years, so we're proud to have them regenerating their native rangeland in West Texas.

ONLY THE
BEST MEAT

The animals health & wellbeing are at the center of
our operation. We use sustainable and regenerative
practices to ensure the future health of our soil.

why grass fed?

Our animals are raised grass-fed and grass-finished for their whole lives. This is how animals have lived for all of time, and we are simply letting nature do its thing. Grass-fed meat is the most environmentally friendly way to raise animals while providing the most nutrient dense foods for humans. We are committed to raising the healthiest animals we can to provide the healthiest meat that we can! This is why we also use holistic management practices to regenerate the soil and land. We also use our special low PUFA diets for our chickens and pigs to get the healthiest fatty acid profile we can!

FOR YOUR HEALTH

Grass-fed animals provide better nutrition and essential fatty acid profiles that are optimal for humans. Healthy animals make for healthy meat and healthy meat makes for healthy humans! Grain fed animals do not provide us with the ideal nutrition, and that's why we care so much about making our meat as nutrient dense as we can!

FOR THE ENVIRONMENT

Animals and the earth work in symbiosis – it's a give and take! When our animals graze on pasture, they are participating in the natural cycle of taking nutrients from the plants and recycling them to the earth to make for healthy soil to feed the plants once again. This is essential to the health of our land and feeding our animals.

FOR THE ANIMAL

Grasslands are the species appropriate diet for our animals. When animals are fed grains they are deplete of many nutrients and their essential fatty acid profiles that are out of whack. Just like humans need proper nutrition, animals do too. Put simply, grasslands provide the full spectrum of nutrients our animals need to thrive.

QUALITY YOU CAN TASTE

We take our farming practices seriously. We provide the optimal living environment for our
animals and raise them with love with respect. We believe this is translated into the most
delicious and nutrient dense meat for humans to eat.

Once you taste our product, it will be extremely hard to go back to what you were eating
before. Don't say we didn't warn you.

why nose to tail?

This is a good question! It may seem a little odd at first in our modern society. Just remember though, we
ate this way for hundreds of thousands of years and even millions of years as pre-humans. Look in any
cookbook before about 1950 and you'll see these organ meats & odds-n-ends included in normal fare.

Eating nose to tail means eating the muscle, organs, and everything in between!
Every bit of the animal provides the human body with all the vitamins and minerals
we could ever need in the most bioavailable form. Iron, selenium, vitamin A, B
vitamins, the list goes on!

We love our steaks as much as the next person, but there is a vast array of vitamins
and minerals in organ meats like liver, heart, kidney, and spleen that you just can't
get from eating muscle meat alone. Some people even refer to these foods as
nature's multivitamin, and we couldn't agree more. These items are the true
"superfoods" that have allowed humans to thrive through all of history.

True nose to tail eating takes advantage of the bones and bone marrow, too. Not to
our surprise, both are so amazing for the health of our own connective tissue
and bone health. Bone broth and marrow gives us access to the collagen, healing amino
acids, and so many bioavailable minerals such as calcium and magnesium.

We appreciate everything our animals have to offer, and that is why we take
advantage of these bits and pieces. Ancestrally, we did not waste these nutrient
dense parts of the animal, rather these were the parts that were most prized. All of
our animals are raised with love and care, and we pass that on to our consumers in its most complete form.

ALL-NATURAL GRASS FED BILTONG

Biltong is a traditional South African air-dried meat snack that's tender & never cooked!

OUR PROCESS

We use traditional South African recipes here in the US to create the easiest & most delicious way to enjoy healthy, whole foods on the go.

We source the finest grass-fed beef from ranchers using traditional and natural farming methods. We then season long strips of select cuts of meat and hang them in custom-designed drying rooms to simulate the natural climatic conditions on cool, dry South African plateau regions. After 7 days of drying we slice and ship out our product to you, straight from our facility for maximum freshness.

SMALL BATCH SUGAR-FREE SEASONING BLENDS

All of our seasonings are carefully concocted and each blend was chosen with care. We have the savvy meat-eater in mind and have the full array of flavors to cover all the bases.

OUR PROCESS

First and foremost, we use no sugar, fillers, MSG, irradiation, flow agents, or any other wacky things that end up in other seasonings.

Next but equally as important, we use only fresh ingredients in small batches to make sure you get the most robust flavor possible. We take no shortcuts as with all of our products at Nose to Tail. We're proud to have the simplest possible ingredient list with solely herbs & spices.

We also focus on the freshly ground herbs and spices instead of salt. Some cheaper seasonings out there are loaded with cheap salt to save money. As we've more recently found out, salt turns out to not be the enemy. We'll leave the salting mostly to you, however, which will allow our seasoning blends to go a long way.

Lastly, we use glass bottles to avoid plastics and for a premium experience. Nobody needs phthalates sprinkled on their delectable dishes. We hope you enjoy every bite!

HANDMADE BEEF TALLOW BODY CARE

All of our body care products are handmade in small batches from nature's first (and best) natural skin care product; beef tallow. We use as few ingredients as humanly possible to not interrupt the skin's natural balance. While other soaps and products strip your skin of moisture and other necessary components, ours enhance and give back.

OUR PROCESS

We also avoid all "natural" fragrances. This is an unregulated term that can mean just about anything. Our only fragrances are from 100% essential oils straight from nature. Do your own research on the difference between "natural" fragrances and essential oils and come back when you're done 🙂

The majority ingredient in each of our body care products is tallow from grass finished, regeneratively raised cattle. Not only is the fat from these animals the most pure, but you're doing the environment a favor as well. Regenerative agriculture "describes farming and grazing practices that, among other benefits, reverse climate change by rebuilding soil organic matter and restoring degraded soil biodiversity – resulting in both carbon drawdown and improving the water cycle" according to Regeneration International .

The first body care products were natural fats. That's all we had access to for all of history. Our first mention of soap in recorded history comes from ancient Rome. " Ancient Roman legend has it that the word 'soap' is derived from Mount Sapo, where animals were sacrificed, and from where rainwater washed a mixture of melted animal fats (tallow, a foul-smelling substance also used to make candles) and wood ashes into the River Tiber below. There, the soapy mixture was found to be useful for washing clothing and skin. " According to the History of Soap Making

The other staple ingredients in our products are coconut oil and beeswax. These also have ancient traditions in body care products that go back thousands of years. We hope you enjoy using (to our knowledge) the most natural and ancestral body care products available today.

CUSTOM-MADE PATCH HATS

Each of our hats are custom designed from scratch and use only the best materials. The patches are hand-sewn on for optimum durability.

OUR PROCESS

We only source the best quality hats for our custom, one-of-a-kind patches. We take no shortcuts around here and hand-sew them to ensure lasting quality.

There are definitely cheaper hats out there, but at Nose to Tail we always choose quality over price. These babies are built to last – just like the people who wear them.
