Former Employee, more than i twelvemonth
Pros
State job and then lots of holidays off. You are investigating and hopefully helping families. Many of the other investigators intendance most one another and are willing to assist, if they tin can.
Cons
Yous will work nonstop. Many employees mental health is non valued. A considerable amount of employees left because the state has added in the terminal year a large corporeality of requirements and unnecessary tasks to investigators. Oft times investigators have then many open up cases on their desk that they cannot fully investigate as they should. For instance, there were multiple people who worked most 24 hours straight and were expected to be to work the next day, employees health and mental wellness are not valued. Lastly, safety is a big issue, you will without a incertitude be put in very scary situations, only because law enforcement in Jackson county is nether staffed as well, skilful luck finding officers who will help.

Onetime Employee, more than than iii years
Pros
Great experience working with at-gamble youth; opportunity to truly make a difference in their lives
Cons
The department has been shifting more and more toward a punitive model and away from the core beliefs that drew me to the division in the first identify. Erratic scheduling, incommunicable to maintain any semblance of work/life balance. Supervisors are told they are "on call 24/7" but are non paid to be on-telephone call.

Business organisation Outlook
Pros
Accrued time off, meaningful connections with families and customs partners, positive co-working relationships, opportunity to learn about customs resources/partners, ensuring child safety
Cons
COMPENSATION! STAFFING! We are paid so footling that nosotros need second jobs just to go by. However, it's difficult to take a 2nd job when the job requires long hours every 24-hour interval due to a SEVERE lack in staffing. Overtime is paid in compensatory, standard hours. So, if you work 10 boosted hours in a calendar week, you receive 10 additional hours that you can take off… but we are then understaffed that we cannot take time off.
